Up to September 21 1970 and Mike Simms now has 48 home runs and 125 RBI. His Cubs are pretty much out of the race. The New York Mets barring disaster should win the NL East. Their magic number is down to 7.
The early 70's are always a crazy time to play in regards to relief pitchers. Got a guy pitching out of the bullpen and in amongst the league leaders for wins with 16. Wonder how many blown saves he has?
Going to be interesting to see if any pitcher reaches 20 wins. Dizzy Dean and Don Newcombe probably have the best chance to do so.
Didn't remember Dan Haren being a good hitter.(I don't remember a lot of stuff, so not questioning OOTP) OOTP has him operating as a 2 way player for the New York Yankees. He is the backup 1B for Willie McCovey when he isn't on the mound. He's hitting roughly .270 on the season.
