You're on the current beta patch version .56? Ground balls to first base is listed in the beta as "Fixed too many GB 3-1 plays" which should give you more 3U plays.
I just played out my first game with the beta and had three 3U plays in my game. Before the patch they were there but very rare. If I had to guess I'd say maybe one every ten games.
