April 6 – Game 5

It’s sunny and mild once again at Radcliffe Field as Wellington and Cobourg square off in a critical match.

Wellington hung on to win their third game of the Series and will be looking to RHP Mhelter Pilapil (1-0, 1.12 ERA, 8.0 IP, 106 PI), who pitched brilliantly in Game 1, to close things out. Cobourg turns to their Game 1 starter as well, RHP Albert Johnson (0-1, 8.10 ERA, 6.2 IP, 104 PI). After a rough Game 1, Johnson will be looking for some redemption.

LF Nihopalaoa Neho backpedals and reels it in. Docking tags up and scores easily as Wellington gets on the board.

RF Jim Mars throws toward home, but the relay is off the mark as Palmer scores. Fang takes second on the RBI single. Nathan Ashman then grounds out to 2B Vaiga Bultarro as Fang moves up to third.
With two out and Nihopalaoa Neho at the plate, the home plate umpire calls a balk against Pilapil, for taking an illegal step before entering his stretch. Fang comes in to score Cobourg’s fourth run.

April 9 – Game 7

After a thrilling Game 6, it all comes down to a deciding Game 7 to determine who will win this year’s Eastern League Pennant. Sunny, clear skies set the stage for a packed house at Santop Stadium.

Cobourg looks to LHP Bill Budd (1-0, 1.00 ERA, 9.0 IP, 116 PI), who was brilliant in Game 3, to keep up his inspired play. Wellington calls upon RHP Kazunori Fujimoto (0-1, 3.86 ERA, 7.0 IP, 106 PI) to carry the day for the Athletics and the home crowd.
