So far it looks like those corrupted ghost files may have been the problem.
I saw two but there could have been more. I don't know how it would cause the problem i had but all i can say is that after a complete fresh install of windows i have not had the problem again. At least so far.
Of course it could have been some other software.
I do agree that the problem i was seeing wasn't caused by ootp or my hardware.
