CBO Playoffs: Association Round Results

NCA: #5 Cambridge Coursers vs #1 Starlight Killers

Game 1: Cambridge 7, Starlight 3

Road Win Lifts Cambridge to 1-0 Lead in ASF

The Cambridge Coursers started the Association Semifinal Round in style, winning on the road against the Starlight Killers at Valentine Detective Agency Field by a score of 7-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Coursers first baseman Frigate Magdaleno excelled. He went 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

A key moment came with no one out in the top of the first. That's when Magdaleno hit a cutter from Mercury Morris for a 2-run single, putting Cambridge up, 3-0.

Magdaleno told a Cambridge Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Valentine Detective Agency Field in Lincoln.

Game 2: Starlight 11, Cambridge 0

Grant, Killers Wallop Coursers in Game 2 of ASF

Starlight first baseman Waterbug Grant produced all the offense the Killers would need in the club's 11-0 win over the Cambridge Coursers.

Grant went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice, while Starlight moved into a tie in the Association Semifinal Round. The Killers and Coursers are now even at 1-1 in the best-of-5 series.

In the bottom of the first, Grant had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run home run off Malik Watts that staked the Killers to a 2-0 lead.

"Today was a lot of fun," said Grant.

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 11th , 2318 at Cambridge Polymer Field in Cambridge.

Game 3: Cambridge 5, Starlight 4

Jabonete Blasts Killers, Coursers Take Game 3, 5-4

The Cambridge Coursers needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the Association Championship Series. The Coursers got took the 5-4 win against the Starlight Killers in a walk-off at Cambridge Polymer Field. Cambridge center fielder Pro Jabonete was 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win gives the Coursers a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

The game came to a sudden end. In the bottom of the ninth, with two out, Jabonete reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run. It gave Cambridge the 5-4 walk-off win.

"There's nothing like the postseason," said Jabonete, "to ramp up the pressure."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cambridge Polymer Field in Cambridge.

Game 4: Cambridge 6, Starlight 2

Coursers Advance to Association Championship Series

The Cambridge Coursers are one step closer to winning a Sole Survivor Series, and the season came to a close for the Starlight Killers.

Cambridge won the Association Semifinal Round 3-1, with a 6-2 victory in the deciding game at Cambridge Polymer Field today.

Cambridge left fielder Bubbler Mayhem was named the MVP of the series, after hitting .467 with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 1 homers, drove in 4 RBI and scored 5 runs.

"I just hope I can keep it up in the Association Championship Series," he said.

The Cambridge Coursers will play against the Lexington Synths in the next round. Lexington won their series against the The Slog Ghouls 3 games to 1. The Association Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal Round finishes.

Game 1: The Slog 2, Lexington 0

Association Semifinal Round Game 1 Victory for McDonald and The Slog

The Association Semifinal Round got off to a quiet start, with the host The Slog Ghouls taking a low-scoring, 2-0 win over the Lexington Synths. The Slog right-hander Buzzcut McDonald was marvelous at Tarberry Field Forever. The Ghouls now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.

McDonald gave The Slog a solid start. The right-hander allowed no runs on 5 hits over 7 innings.

"Buzzcut gave us everything he had," said The Slog manager Melvin Ceja.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tarberry Field Forever in The Slog.

Game 2: Lexington 4, The Slog 3

Synths Clip Ghouls, 4-3, in ASF Contest

The Lexington Synths took down the The Slog Ghouls by the score of 4-3 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Association Semifinal Round. The largest share of the credit belongs to Lexington starter Hyand Lowe, who threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball.

With the game tied, 2-2, in the top of the sixth, Lowe had a key at-bat for Lexington. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Lowe hit a 2-run double off Quincy Jones, making the score 4-2, Synths.

"Hyand pitched like a champ," said Lexington manager Jon Castro.

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Super Duper Mart Stadium in Lexington.

Game 3: Lexington 2, The Slog 1

Synths Clip Ghouls, 2-1, in ASF Contest

The Lexington Synths moved to within one game of the Association Championship Series, downing the visiting The Slog Ghouls at Super Duper Mart Stadium by a score of 2-1. Synths right-hander Admiral Kelm had a strong outing in which he threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Synths a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Synths had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when third baseman Tommy Whitetiger hit a run-scoring double. The double came off Flirt Perez and made the score 2-0, Synths. Whitetiger was 2-4 with a double.

"We don't have much margin for error now," Ghouls manager Melvin Ceja said. "We need to figure out the problem and fix it, immediately."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Super Duper Mart Stadium in Lexington.

Game 4: Lexington 5, The Slog 1

Synths Heading to Association Championship Series

After eliminating the The Slog Ghouls 4-1 in the Association Semifinal Round at Super Duper Mart Stadium, the victorious Lexington Synths will now move on to the next round: the Association Championship Series.

Lexington beat The Slog 3-1 in the series. The MVP trophy was awarded to Synths third baseman Tommy Whitetiger, who knocked in 3 runs, hit .375 and scored 2 times.

"The guys were all chanting 'M-V-P' when I went into the clubhouse," Whitetiger said later, with a smile. "It was kind of embarrassing but it feels great to be here."

The Lexington Synths don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Starlight Killers - Cambridge Coursers series. Cambridge leads the series 2 games to 1. The Association Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal Round finishes.

Game 1: Diamond City 3, Jamaica Plain 1

Lopez Helps Diamond City Take Association Semifinal Round Game 1

The Diamond City Swatters powered past the visiting Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, 3-1, in the opener of the Association Semifinal Round at The Great Green Jewel. Diamond City starting pitcher Macho Lopez threw 6.1 innings allowing 1 run, to lead the charge. The Swatters now lead the series 1-0.

Diamond City took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Togie Pitt hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Swatters fans to their feet.

"Felt great, felt really good," said Lopez.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Great Green Jewel in Boston.

Game 2: Diamond City 2, Jamaica Plain 1

Diamond City Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair

The Diamond City Swatters moved to within one game of the Association Championship Series, downing the visiting Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at The Great Green Jewel by a score of 2-1. Swatters left-hander Dropper Millieu had a strong outing in which he threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Swatters a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

Millieu delivered a quality start for Diamond City. The 6-foot-2 left-hander allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 7 innings of work.

"Dropper has got a slow heartbeat," said Diamond City manager A-Juan Rodriguez. "He doesn't panic or anything."

The next game is set to be played for Thursday, September 12th , 2318 at Red Rockets Stadium in Jamaica Plain.

Game 3: Diamond City 7, Jamaica Plain 2

Diamond City Wins Association Semifinal Round

The Diamond City Swatters made it look easy and are heading to the Association Championship Series.

They have ousted the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets in a sweep, the final win coming by a 7-2 score, clinching the 3-0 series win.

"Everything's clicking for us right now," said Teng Dgebuadze, who was named MVP for the series.

Dgebuadze hit .667 with a .692 on-base percentage. He added 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The Diamond City Swatters don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Vault 81 Dwellers - Southie Brews series. Southie leads the series 2 games to 1. The Association Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal Round finishes.



SCA: #3 Vault 81 Dwellers vs #2 Southie Brews

Game 1: Southie 11, Vault 81 6

Association Semifinal Round Game 1 Goes to Southie, Thanks to Testerman

The Southie Brews started the Association Semifinal Round in style, downing the visiting Vault 81 Dwellers at Gwinnett Brewery Park by a score of 11-6 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Brews left fielder Huge Hugh Testerman was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4.

In the bottom of the sixth, Southie third baseman Mikita Sato had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Sato stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 2-0, Southie. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Austin Shuler.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gwinnett Brewery Park in Boston.

Game 2: Southie 9, Vault 81 2

Southie Pins 9-2 Loss on Vault 81

The Southie Brews moved to within one game of the Association Championship Series, downing the visiting Vault 81 Dwellers at Gwinnett Brewery Park by a score of 9-2. Brews right-hander Brandon Sparrow had a strong outing in which he threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run. The win gives the Brews a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

Gav Gidree helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 3-0, Brews.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Gidree.

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 3: Vault 81 9, Southie 0

Vault 81 Breaks Through for First Win in Association Semifinal Round; Now Trails 2-1

Already down in the Association Semifinal Round, the Vault 81 Dwellers put on their best show, beating the Southie Brews by a final score of 9-0. Zack Million was special. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. Vault 81 now trails Southie 2-1 in the best-of-5 affair.

Million, a native of Dover, New Hampshire, was dealing all game. He kept Southie hitters off-balance, while giving the Dwellers 8 quality innings. Million threw 108 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 6.

"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Million.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 4: Vault 81 6, Southie 1

Raucous CURIE Inc. Field Crowd Propels Dwellers to 6-1 Victory; Series Tied at 2

The Vault 81 Dwellers and the Southie Brews will take the Association Semifinal Round to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation, the Dwellers beat the Brews, 6-1, at CURIE Inc. Field to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Vault 81 right-hander Exxie Summerset had a big role in the win. He threw 8.2 innings of 5-hit ball.

Summerset, who was born in Adams, Massachusetts, threw 97 pitches over 8.2 innings, while allowing 1 run.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Summerset.

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 15th , 2318 at Gwinnett Brewery Park in Boston.

Game 5: Southie 8, Vault 81 7

Southie Takes Association Semifinal Round in Deciding Game

The Southie Brews and Vault 81 Dwellers put on a classic Association Semifinal Round that was in question until the final game.

In the end, Southie won the deciding contest by a score of 8-7, to take the series 3-2.

"It doesn't get much tighter than that. To win a series in the last game is a thrill," said Earthwind More, who earned series MVP honors for Southie. "Our guys are breathing a little easier now."

For the series, More hit .389 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Southie Brews will play against the Diamond City Swatters in the next round. Diamond City won their series against the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets 3 games to 0. The Association Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal Round finishes.
