The St. Louis Cardinals have placed right-handed reliever Brock Moore on the 15-day injured list after he list a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rockies on May 18 with what turned out to be a strained shoulder.
Signed as a free agent in the offseason, Moore, 35, has struggled this season going 1-2 with an 8.56 ERA in 17 games.
Rookie right-hander Mike Swails has been recalled from AAA Memphis.
The 25-year-old Swails started the season in the majors -- appearing in nine games, he had no decisions or saves and a 6.75 ERA -- before being put o on the injured list with a pulled abdominal muscle.
He got into three games at AAA Memphis not allowing a run over four innings of work.
