It was originally built as a rally grounds for the Nazis, but when it was captured by Americans at the end of the war, it was turned into a sports complex. It hosted the " GI World Series" in September of 1945, in which the OISE All-Stars defeated the 71st Red Army Circlers three games to two. That the OISE All-Stars were integrated makes their victory on the grounds more fitting. It still stands today and was recently renovated to include several memorials on the site.
