Cards news: July 16 -- Three named to Prospects Game
The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that three minor leaguers -- starting pitchers Ryan Ryon and Manuel Perez and outfielder Manuel Perez -- have been named to the National League roster for the Prospects Game.
It is the second time both of the Perez have played in the contest. It will be the first trip for Ryon.
The 19th-pick in the first-round of the 2032 draft, Ryon has gone 4-4 with a 5.20 ERA in 15 starts at High-A Peoria.
The 20-year-old has pitched 71.0 innings, during which he has struck out 71 and had a 1.44 WHIP.
Manuel Perez, the pitcher, is currently at AAA Memphis after starting the season at AA Springfield.
In 13 starts, the 21-year-old has gone 3-3 with a 3.83 ERA over 68.1 innings. He has struck out 64 and has a 1.42 WHIP.
Perez also pitched one game in the majors but lasted just two innings allowing two runs on four hits.
The outfielder Perez, 18, is at AA Peoria after starting the season at AAA Memphis.
In 80 games/79 starts, he is hitting .178 with four home runs and 31 RBIs.
