July 26-28, 2058: vs LA Dodgers (3)

Game 1: The Rays were walloped in the opener by the Dodgers 13-4. Victor Boria (8-5) was hit hard at 3 7 5 5 1 1 and then Randy Mastropietro came in and gave up five runs while recording a single out. They did get homers from Jordan Sailes (#9, solo) and Omar Gaitan (#6, a 2-run blast).

Game 2: This ended up the first game of a doubleheader after Saturday's game was rained out and the Rays had their way with LA 9-2. Joel Bland was 2-5 with a triple and bases-clearing double, Jesus Avalos was 3-5 with HR #18 and 3 RBI and Jordan Sailes was 4-4 with another solo homer (#10). Eljiah Whitaker (6-5) was solid for the win at 6 9 2 2 1 5 and Angel Gonzales added a solo shot (#24).

Game 3: The Rays dropped the nightcap and the series to the Dodgers 3-2. Julio Mattilla (7-8) wasn't terrible at 5.2 8 3 3 2 5 but it wasn't good enough on a day that saw Tampa Bay's only offense come on solo homers from Aaron White (#6) and Joel Bland (#9).

Team record: 62-44. And with a Yankee sweep of Arizona the Rays division lead is down to a scant one-half game. Next up: More interleague action but this down on the road for 3 in Milwaukee which will take us to the trade deadline. In some good news CF Henry Dominguez, who's been missed, is starting a rehab assignment after being out since mid-April.
