2040 Offseason (Part 1)
Two players rated as five-star talents were on the free agent market entering the 2040 season. Five-time EPB MVP Maksim Krutov stayed in Russia as the 34-year old signed a four-year, $112 million deal with Samara. St. Louis got the other in three-time CLB MVP Jinhao Lin, who left for America on a five-year, $225 million deal. That wasn’t even the biggest overall deal given out by the Cardinals, giving former Kathmandu RF Sin Mang Da an eight-year, $311,600,000 deal. The richest yearly salary for the free agent class was 2B Pablo Rivera at $49,500,000 for 2040 with Denver.
The legendary Binh Tng was back on the market heading towards age 40, fresh off his first two MLB seasons with Washington. The 13-time APB MVP remained in MLB on a two-year, $96 million deal with defending Baseball Grand Champion Houston. Another famous veteran 3B Jamel Forysth signed a one-year deal worth $40 million with Detroit. He is in position to reach 4000+ combined hits across his 22-year CABA/MLB odyssey. Forysth will turn 44 on September 2 and is the second-oldest signed player in the world for 2040.
Below is the free agent batters signed with a 3.5 star rating or better. One notable at only three stars was 1B Artyom Masharipov, who was a six-time MVP over 14 seasons with Baku. He stayed in ABF on a three-year, $70,200,000 deal with Bursa.

Sutrisno Kartanto was a five-star rated free agent starting pitcher and the American Association’s defending ERA champ with Seattle. He had major injuries costing him starts from 2036-38, but Phoenix gave the 34-year old righty a five-year, $200 million deal. Jens Van Der Vloet was a five-star closer and three-time Reliever of the Year with EBF’s Budapest. He signed a two-year deal to join MLB with Hartford.
