It sounds like you've tried a lot already, but there's
more to try.
When you say your whole computer lags, however, it makes me think it's a file indexing issue. I know I have to exclude folders from being file indexed by my search program.
uruguru points out that you should do the same for Windows. You said you "turned off onedrive". Well, Windows could still be file indexing for it.
