Actually, I have gleaned quite a bit from tracking pitch usage. Especially in younger pitchers and that ever famous "Catcher Ability" rating. Example, catchers with 50 catcher ability rely on a young pitchers best pitch while higher rated catchers call a game using a more balanced approach using the entire pitch mix. For me, as a former catcher and coach, keeping a game record of this sort is natural.
