Why Does OOTP Love Cecil Cooper So Much?

Not a gripe by any means, just an observation that CC is one of those players I rarely see come into an OOTP non-recalc save anything other than super hot.

His was a fine career, no doubt, but not stellar. He's not in the HoF by a long margin, missed hitting 300 lifetime by a couple bips, only had 241 HR and never more than 32, barely 30 WAR, decent glove with a couple GGs but no Keith Hernandez (who I've had come in decent but also as a scrub).

Yet I've had him absolutely kill it in multiple saves.

No doubt a player's hitting or pitching profile can lend itself to good or ill dev-only treatment from OOTP. Tris Speaker is invariably good, so is Don Sutton on the pitching side.

The Babe, understandably, is problematic because of his unique career path, but Lou Gehrig is hit-and-miss in my experience. So is Mickey Mantle. Schill, Petey, Randy J are all wild cards.

I wonder what elements of each profile mean the most in this regard. This I know from experience, so much of it has to do with the import settings.

Anyway, just one of the myriad fascinations I have with this amazing game. Love to hear some other thoughts on same.
