Cards news: May 8 -- Hitting coach Arthur Johnson is told to take a hike
Arthur Johnson's tenure as the hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals lasted all of 33 games, as he was fired following a 4-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox on May 8.
St. Louis has gone 1-7 over its last eight games and scored three runs or fewer in six or seven losses.
The team ranks in the bottom three of every offensive category.
It is expected that AAA Memphis hitting coach Eric Cavers will be promoted to the majors.
