The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that right-handed relief pitcher Dikembe Sanchez will miss up to six weeks after he was diagnosed with shoulder inflammation after pitching in a 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on March 8.
A free-agent signing, the 29-year-old Sanchez has pitched in six games covering 5.1 innings this spring compiling a 1-0 record with a 1.69 ERA.
Last season, Sanchez pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers relieving in 41 games and going with a 2-1 record with one save and a 3.52 ERA.
Sanchez broke into the majors with Milwaukee in 2027.
He has pitched in 253 games he is 24-18 with eight saves and a 2.75 ERA.
