I had a meeting with Marçall Camacho, his agent and the Shleby’s to discuss the future of Camacho and the Commodores. Camacho had been adamant that he does not want to talk about an extension yet, but he also hasn’t given any hints on if he will opt out of his deal following this season. His agent hasn’t given me anything either. I have made it clear that I do not want to lose him for nothing, and that I’d really like to keep him around. He is, after all, our best hitter and at a premium position (catcher). While his personality is not the greatest, exceptions can be made for good players. The Shelby’s agree for the most part, they are also reluctant to let him go for nothing, however Mr. Johnny Shelby is not all in on trading him as his win now mentality and our current first place position in the division gives him the idea that we can make a run. This meeting is to try to find a solution.

We agreed on one thing; both sides want to win. Camacho is not entirely sure that’ll be here in Oakland. Camacho and his agent are not budging on extension talks, just giving straight faced no after no to us. After a 3 hour discussion, we all agreed on a solution: if we don’t have a winning record and a 5 game lead over second place (currently 3 games ahead), all parties will approve a trade.
