MLB news: Sept. 28 -- Braves back in playoffs for first time since 2028
The Atlanta Braves are back in the National League playoffs for the first time since 2028 as they have clinched a wild card berth with a 7-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
At 88-69, the Braves trail the National League East Division-leading New York Mets by 5.5 games with four games left in the regular season.
The Braves lead the Miami Marlins by 3.5 games for the top wild-card berth.
Atlanta last reached the World Series in 2026, when it fell to the Cleveland Indians.
The year before, 2025, the Braves won it all with a defeat of the Houston Astros.
