The “other” Chicago team announced they'd extended closer Matt Wright for 3 more years at 24.9 million. The 32 year old is 1-0 13 Saves this year, winner of 2 Rivera Awards and a 3-time all-star. Led the league in 2004 with 37 saves. 46-29 230 saves lifetime with a 2.74 ERA.
San Diego righty Juan Laurel fanned 7 in a 8-0 win over Pittsburgh. The 22 year old is 9-2 2.39. He led the NL with 225.2 IP last year going 15-15 4.27
Cleveland's Travis Hilly tossed a CG SHO beating Detroit 7-0. The 24 year old fanned 6 and walked 1 in moving to 8-2 3.07.
IRON PIG HAPPENINGS
OF Tom Martinez won the AAA Western League POTW. The 25 year old was the 2nd round pick in the Expansion draft from Philadelphia. He went 14-22 2 HR 6 RBI and appears to be in line for a call up in the near future. He's currently hitting .340 with 3 HR and 13 RBI's.
At AA Milwaukee 3B Adam Brigham went 13-26 3 HR 9 RBI to win the AA Northern League POTW. He's hitting .271-8-32 on the year.
