It's been a while since I last posted, but I do plan to finish this up....just not in quite as much detail as I started with. Below is a look at the final standings for the 1933 season.

In the NL East, the Mets got some fight from the Braves but were able to pull away near the end. The NL Central was a huge fight between the Pirates, Reds and Cardinals. Pittsburgh's 9-1 finish put them over the top. The NL West was all Dodgers again. It's too bad we can't move one of those Central teams to the West to give them a little challenge.

In the AL East, the Orioles were a bit of a surprise in knocking off the Yankees during a year very close to their own. The Yankees started off cold and fell just a bit too far behind....but they almost caught up. In the AL Central, the Senators were also a surprising team as they beat out the favored Indians. In the West, it was the Astros just beating out that tough Mariners squad.

The playoff matchups were as follows-

Reds vs. Dodgers

Mets vs. Pirates

Yankees vs. Orioles

Astros vs. Senators

The Reds/Dodgers series looked to be a good one, but it really wasn't as the Dodgers took care of the Reds pretty quickly, 4 games to 1.

The Pirates gave the Mets all they could handle, but fell just short, 4 games to 3.

In the AL, the Yankees/Orioles battle was a chance for NY to get revenge for losing the division by just one game. Baltimore proved they were the better team this season, however by again squeaking out the duel by one game....4-3.

Finally, it was the Astros/Senators with a battle of teams that are 89 years apart. Washington put up a great fight, but Jose Altuve had an absolutely incredible series going 16-27 with 2 HR to lead Houston to a 4-3 win.

That led to a Mets/Dodgers and Orioles/Astros LCS.

The Mets and Dodgers went the full 7 games and it was again the Mets moving on to the World Series. Darryl Strawberry was named LCS MVP.

The Orioles continued their surprising season, as they knocked off Houston 4 games to 2, led by MVP Paul Blair who hit 4 HR with 11 RBI.

The World Series would be very familiar to the Orioles as they faced the Miracle Mets back in 1969 and would be looking for some revenge against the 1986 counterparts. It wasn't meant to be, however, as the Mets took the series 4 games to 2, led by MVP Mookie Wilson.
