Everything on League Settings --> Players needs to be "None"
Under Rules, the Draft needs to be disabled and the box for "Disable automatic creation of free agents" needs to be checked.
You also would have needed to make sure you deleted any fictional players that were created at league creation before importing your historical players.

Just tried it. Still didn't work. In the players section it asks to set ages for fictional players but nothing to prohibit them from coming up. I did put in none for the other settings you mentioned. I wonder if I need to just use the reserve system instead of minors since some of the teams I have chosen are pre-minors. If that were the case, I would think only those teams would be affected. So frustrating.
