Rodeo LeRoy Wins Awards
On the good news side of things LR Robert “Rodeo” LeRoy won 2 awards this week. First he won the hitter of the week award.
Robert Leroy is respected by most Chicago Architects fans for his no-frills style of play. The 31-year-old left fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the USA Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .360 average (9-for-25) with 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and 8 runs scored. This season, Leroy has hit 9 home runs and posted a .390 batting average.
Then he was also awarded the Hitter of the Month award. He has followed up quite nicely from his MVP season last year in Canada.
Robert Leroy battered USA pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.
"I've been around the Great Lakes Baseball League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Leroy told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 21 games, Leroy hit .390 with 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 20 runs.
Thank goodness we signed LeRoy, he has kept us a float while 3B Thomas Arnaud spent most of the month on the DL and 1B Reagan Osborn has continued to struggle with the bat. Even with all those struggles Chicago has still scored the most runs in the USA division during the first month of the season. Just think what this lineup could do with a healthy Arnaud and Aranda along with Osborn regaining his stroke. That makes me feel pretty good about things.
Now I just need to watch out that we don’t wreck him. He is looking dog tired and thankfully we have an off-day on Monday May 1st, but he will also get a day off on Tuesday May 2nd. We have been riding him very hard but we also need to be a little more careful of our $157 million dollar man.
