The following teams are open:
Pittsburgh Pirates – 73-89 4th in the NL Central (24 GB)
The Pirates are a young up and coming team lead by their power hitting LF Dave Dickenson. The 27 year old split time in the OF and at 1B and slashed .266/.326/.524 with 37 HR and 112 RBI and was a 2055 NL All Star. He is surrounded by a good young supporting cast including 3B Eric Breaux, a 25 year old who also hd a breakout season in 2055 slashing .317/.383/.523 with 22 HR and 75 RBI and 25 year old DH Jared Vaughn who hit .251 but blasted 45 HR and added 110 RBI. On the pitching side of things 24 year old SP Mike Liviningston is the ace of the staff winning 13 games with a 3.49 ERA. They also have 23 year old SP Sincere Shinhoster who struggled this season with a 9-15 record and a 5.26 ERA. Down on the farm the Pirates have the 27th ranked farm system with 3 players ranked within the top 100. These include RF Josh Parsons #45, 1B Rory Gardner #70 and 1B Shamar Hyppolite #77. They have a payroll of $63 million and a budget of over $166 million, leaving them over $100 million in budget room to spend. They are definitely offensively heavy and will need to invest in some pitching help inorder to take the next step.

San Diego Padres – 84-78 3rd in NL West (12 GB)
The Padres are led by an offensive force in 1B/DH Shamar Sturghill who lead the National league in rund driven in with 135 this season. The 25 year old added 51 HR and a .301 batting average and is perhaps the most dangerous hitter in the National League. Complimenting Sturghill is 26 year olf LF Luis Carrillo who slashed .296/.349/.542 with 30 HR and 82 RBI and RF Jamie Newcomb, a 27 year old who slashed .289/.343/.542 with 36 HR and 92 RBI. The rotation is headed by SP Bobby Hecksel who led the team with 12 wins and a 3.84 ERA in 2055. The Padres don’t have the deepest farm system with just 1 player ranked in the top 100, SP Eric Goeden is the #92 ranked prospect accoridning to Baseball America. Financially, they have a payroll of just over $98 million and a budget of $208 million. They are poised with a ton of budgetary room to be able to make lots of moves on the free agent and the international market this season if dersired.

Montreal Expos – 65-97 5th in the AL East (32 GB)
The Expos are in the midst of a rebuild for sure but do have some nice pieces on the roster and in the minors giving a new GM some flexibility as to what direction they would like to go with the team. LF Steve Emery is a 27 year old 4 time All Star who is the team leader in just about every offensive category. He slashed .316/.359/.555 with 30 HR and 112 RBI. Pairing him with LF Andy Crossland who smashed 52 HRa nd drove in 132 runs with a .281 batting average gives Montreal a young pair of cornerstone bats to build around. The Ace of the Expos staff is former 2nd overall pick in the 2052 draft SP Abdul-Mu’izz Bin Jihad who was 8-10 with a 5.42 ERA. The 25 year old struck out 195 batters in 187 innings of work. In the minors the Expos have the 20th ranked farm system with two players ranked in the top 100. CL Josh Brooks #33 looks like a future back end of the bullpen arm who is ready for the MLB now and SP Jim O’Connor #34 is a middle of the rotation arm who is not far from being MLB ready. Financially the Expos have a budget of $158 million and a payroll of $133 million.
