Alvarez’s Scorching Month Leads to AL Batter of the Month
Yordan Alvarez spent September punishing American League pitchers, and the league took notice. The Houston slugger was named the AL Batter of the Month after assembling one of the most dominant stretches of his career. Across 25 games, Alvarez tore through opposing staffs with a .381 average, smashing 11 home runs, driving in 33 and crossing the plate 25 times. For the year, Alvarez continues to post MVP-caliber numbers, batting .291 with 179 hits, 51 homers, 137 RBI, 111 runs, and a .379 on-base percentage.
