Supply & demand.
Ask yourself how many teams will definitely be looking @ an upgrade @ QB this offseason.........Jets, New Orleans, Cleveland, Vegas, Cardinals. Add probably Vikings, Panthers, Falcons, Dolphins, Steelers.
In 2026, will there be 10 QB's total in the entire universe who will be available in the draft or free agency that are "meh" or better? That is why you have to hold your nose & pay them more than you think they are worth.

You get 4 years with a rookie QB. If he's not good enough, let him walk, or trade him to some sucker that wants to pay him. If you're bad enough the next season, you'll get another shot at drafting a QB.
Teams accept "meh" because their goal is not to win a championship. Just be good enough to be talked about or make the playoffs. Think of an online football sim where money isn't involved. No one would accept "meh" at QB and use up a ton of cap space on it.
More teams should use the Transition tag on some of these QBs. You'll get the QBs actual value. But I guess they don't want to insult the player.
