The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that shortstop Gustavo Melendez will miss at least three weeks with an elbow injury he suffered in a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on May 13.
In his first full season as a starter, the 23-year-old Melendez has enjoyed an impressive start hitting .274 with five home runs, 17 RBIs and 21 runs in 35 games.
St. Louis will call up 22-year-old shortstop Jake Snow from AAA Memphis.
The 16th overall pick in the 2030 draft, Snow has hit .208 with five home runs, 19 RBIs and 21 runs scored this season in 34 games with the Redbirds.
