Poor Joe Flacco. He gets traded to Cincy, pulls off the upset against the Steelers, then puts up
80 points in the next two games and the defense can't win either one of them. First team since the 1966 Giants paid for not taking Dick Butkus with the #1 pick (Giants took Tucker Frederickson; Bears grabbed Butkus and Gale Sayers with the next two picks) by setting the NFL record for most PPG Allowed, which still stands.
(The Giants didn't just score 80 total in vain; they were the only team to score 40+ in consecutive weeks and get nothing but 2 Ls for their trouble. The first game was the famous 72-41 defeat where the Redskins ran up the score [calling a timeout to kick the final FG] so that Washington's 70-0 thrashing by the Bears in the 1940 Championship game would no longer be the most ever allowed. Then the Giants picked themselves up the next week, went to Cleveland, and lost 49-40.
