Outcomes; Heavy Johnson (SLA) 2nd in bating, 3rd RBI, 3rd on-base + slugging, Charlie Blackwell (BOS) 3rd in HR. Smoky Joe Williams (SLA) tops in wins and pitching WAR. Dave Brown (CLE) 2nd in K's and pitching WAR. Cristobal Torriente* (SLA) 3rd in pitching WAR. Torriente pitched a total of 68 games in his entire career. In this replay he logged 37 games in 1921? Maybe in the right circumstances Torriente might have filled in on the hill for an ailing club like the Browns?
Oscar Charleston (BSN) 3rd RBI, 2nd batting WAR. Pearl Webster (CIN) 2nd SB, Ad Lankford (NY1) tops in K's. I don't see how this has happened twice he wasn't a power pitcher per Seamheads data.
Negro League News: Ben Taylor had his hitting streak snapped at 70 games during his team's 8-3 win over the New York Bacharach Giants at New York Oval. The 32-year-old first baseman was hitless in 4 at-bats.
"Had to end sometime," Taylor said, shrugging.
For the season, Taylor has hit .557 with 15 home runs and 84 RBIs. He has played in 59 games and scored 71 times.
It seems all the Negro League clubs are being populated with Negro leaguers only! That's a good thing until the league is depleated of good arms hence Ben Taylor's 70 game hitting streak!
