As was suggested in a post above, I downloaded the older versions, back to OOTP 11. When I opened 12, I was asked for the license code for 12 which I no longer had. I thought I was at a dead end. Then I noticed the "import from the previous version" function worked, even though the 12 game itself could not be played. So I tried importing the game I wanted from 11 to 12 and it worked. Then I imported the game 12 to 13, and so on until I got to 16. In the OOTP 16 demo, the import function did not work. So I'm stuck unless I download the 16 demo again and it works or I get the license code for 16.
I have the license codes back to OOTP 21, so if I can get that far, I can resurrect that version 11 game. I've paid for every version so the license codes should be out there somewhere. I don't remember where OOTP was purchased before FastSpring, but if anybody remembers or knows how to get the info, I would appreciate it.

You can import in without any issues or having the license to own the game. You just have to download the demos and import it one season at a time that way. I think around ootp 20 they dont have a demo version anymore but there is a very small button at the bottom of the start screen where you can import the previous seasons game version for each one. Hope that helps!
