
Week 24 – September 22nd: Royals Lose Final Season Homestand Series in Extra Innings
It was a thriller, and we led at one point but couldn’t hold on to it. I’m glad we at least gave the home fans an edge-of-the-seat ride for the final season home game.
Game Summary – September 22nd – Giants Drop Royals, 9-7
Luis Matos added some punch to the San Francisco offense, helping them outmuscle the Kansas City Royals, 9-7. In the game, Matos was 2-3 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to Camilo Doval in relief. His record improves to 8-5. Brennan Bernardino took the loss. The victory puts San Francisco at 91-65 for the season. The game was tied until catcher Patrick Bailey came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Kansas City pitcher Brennan Bernardino, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changing moment, putting San Francisco ahead, 8-7. "Nice to see our side come away with the win," Bailey said after the game.
