
Week 23 – September 17th: Royals Take Second Game in Homestand Against Detroit
Tonight’s win was a solid performance by the players, considering how the season has gone. I’m proud of how we fought to secure the victory. We still demonstrate some pride.
Game Summary – September 17th – Royals Earn 5-3 Home Win
The Detroit Tigers received a strong performance from pitcher Tarik Skubal, but the Kansas City Royals still won, 5-3. Skubal pitched 6.0 innings and allowed 5 runs. This loss brings Detroit's record to 70-82. The Royals had a key at-bat from left fielder MJ Melendez. For the game, Melendez went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on first and third, he hit a 2-run double. His 32nd double of the season gave Kansas City a 3-1 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Melendez. "And not try to do too much."
