Funny you mention service time. I've always started with service time, but have it my mind to try the opposite whenever I get around to creating another random debut league(hopefully that isn't anytime soon, though). Along with free agency, another thing starting with service time provides is, allowing for some of the mid career inaugural draft guys to actually qualify for Hall of Fame induction. Hank Aaron and Pedro Martinez both made the Hall of Fame in my league, but without the pre-added service time, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have met the requirements.
