Week 22 – September 10th: Yank’s Just Get by Royals in Game 2
Game Summary – September 10th – Volpe Helps Yankees Beat Royals, 6-5
The New York Yankees relied on shortstop Anthony Volpe's hitting to beat the Kansas City Royals, 6-5. In the game, Volpe went 3 for 4, hitting a home run and a double. He scored twice and drove in three runs. Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle earned the win, improving his record to 5-4. Justin Topa took the loss. With this win, the Yankees improved to 86-59. If Josh Bell hadn't hit a crucial single in the bottom of the eighth, the result might have been different. Instead, with two outs and runners on 1st and 3rd, Bell hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5 in favor of the Yankees. Yankees manager Aaron Boone expressed satisfaction with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
