“Hello everybody, Harry Doyle here… well, the good news is Cleveland only gave up seven runs today. The bad news is, they only scored three. That’s what we call in the business a loss. Final from Jacobs Field: Mariners 7, Indians 3, and this Division Series is all tied up at a game apiece.
Reynaldo Fuentes — you’ve probably never heard of him, I know I hadn’t — hits a double, a homer, drives in three, and pretty much singlehandedly ruined the afternoon for the Tribe.
Jesus Becerra… oof. Five and a third innings, seven hits, six earned runs, and two homers. ERA balloons to 10.12. I don’t know if that’s his ERA or his cholesterol level, but either way it’s not good.
Cleveland got a little life in the second inning, two runs to answer back, but after that? Not much. Miguel Saldana hit a solo shot in the seventh, and the fans cheered… mostly because it stopped raining after a 15-minute delay.
So here’s where we stand: Indians and Mariners head to Seattle for Game 3 on Wednesday. The Tribe’s still the defending champs, but they’ll need to play like it if they want to keep that three-peat dream alive.
And remember folks — if you can’t make it to the park, you can always listen right here with me. The beer is cold, the Tribe’s bats were colder, and we’ll try it again in a couple days. Mariners 7, Indians 3. This series is tied. Goodnight everybody.”
