September 17-19, 2057: at Houston (3)

Game 1: Jorge Barraza remained one of the hottest pitchers in baseball and the Rays remained the hottest team in baseball as he pitched Tampa Bay to a 2-0 win over the Astros, the team's 15th consecutive victory. Barraza (16-10) lowered his ERA to 3.16 with a 7.1 5 0 0 2 2 outing and Jake Cid finished for his 13th save. Joel Bland had an RBI double and Ryan Rivera added a solo shot (#6/14) in the 9th for insurance.

Game 2: The Rays brought six players off the bench and they staked Dave Rose to an early 3-0 lead but the Rays' ace second-half struggles continued as he gave up 4 runs in the 5th and that would be the extent of the scoring as Tampa Bay saw its 15-game win streak come to an end in a 4-3 loss. Jalen Diaz was 2-3 with another homer (#6) and a steal to help provide that lead and Rose (17-6) was perfect through 4 before it all went wrong in the 5th and he finished 6 4 4 4 2 7.

Game 3: Tampa Bay dropped its first series in a long time as Houston took a 5-4 walk-off win after the bullpen couldn't hold a 4-2 lead. Joel Bland's 2-run double and Brian Whittaker's RBI two-bagger gave them the advantage early and Elijah Whitaker went 5 8 2 2 0 6 in the start. But Mike Alexander gave up a 2-run homer in the 7th to let Houston tie it up and then the Astros walked it off against Willie Navarro (0-1) with a two-out RBI single.

Team record: 104-49
. Next up: A day off then home for 3 against Baltimore.

Durham update: The Bulls kicked off their IL Championship series against Columbus and split the first two of their best-of-5, winning Game 1 on an Emmanuel Jervis walk-off homer then losing Game 2 when the rehabbing Randy Mastropietro was hit hard. The series shifts to Ohio for the next two games.
