Cerrillo to the rescue...
The Rays are all even in the ALDS thanks to a brilliant outing from
Ruben Cerrillo and a 7th-inning rally which saw them score four times. Cerrillo gave up a first-inning homer and scattered some hits but was otherwise unstoppable until he allowed a 2-out homer in the 9th trying to close out his own win. At 112 pitches he gave way to
Walt Kelly, who picked up the save this time by getting the final out. It look for a long time like the Rays might still be in real trouble, trailing 1-0 in the 7th before
Danny Perez doubled home the tying run,
Danny Rivera singled home the go-ahead run, and
Frank Duron came off the bench to deliver a 2-run double which proved to be the difference.
Bryce Barnett will take the ball in Texas in a couple of days in another critical game.
