Cards news: July 8 -- Broken finger to sideline Triantos
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed utility player James Triantos on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a broken finger after being hit by a pitch in a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on July 6.
Triantos, 26, is expected to miss up to five weeks.
In 70 games/64 starts this season, Triantos has hit .247 with four home runs and 28 RBIs.
Getting called up from AAA Memphis is 25-year-old first baseman Edward Yamin.
In 54 games/50 starts with the Redbirds this season, he has hit .280 with 13 home runs and 36 RBIs.
