Week 17 – August 3rd: Royals Take Another Game from Detroit, Lead Series 2-1
We managed to put a close game into the win column tonight. Very proud of the guys' effort, and it's nice to have Bobby back in the lineup. We also received solid pitching and bullpen relief tonight. We are chipping away at that wildcard spot, but that’s all I’ll say, hoping not to jinx it!
Game Summary – August 3rd – Royals Pull Out Late Win, 2-1
The Detroit Tigers couldn't turn a strong performance from pitcher Tarik Skubal into a victory. Instead, the Kansas City Royals won, 2-1. Skubal pitched 8.0 innings, allowing 7 hits. Kansas City reliever Alex Claudio was credited with the win, giving him a record of 2-1. The losing pitcher was Tarik Skubal. The Royals now hold a 50-63 record, while the Tigers drop to 51-61. Who knows how it might have ended if not for Jonathan India? The 2021 Rookie of the Year Award winner hit a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth to put Kansas City ahead, 2-1. He finished the game 2 for 4, with 1 double and 1 single.
