Micah Parsons traded from Cowboys to Packers: What Jerry Jones said at his press conference

Here, let me jerry-pick a few cherries for you:
  • "Jerry Jones spent much of the offseason talking about -- but not to -- Micah Parsons, and many of those talks proved unproductive."
  • "Jones disclosed that he had talked to Parsons plenty but that he wasn't worried about talking to an agent and in fact he didn't even know the name of Parsons' agent." Real respect.
  • "[Parsons] no longer wanted to negotiate without an agent, he didn't want to be on a team that took shots at him for being injured (which Jones did in July)."
  • "Jones said many times over the course of the offseason that he had no plans to trade Parsons. Then Thursday came."
  • "In his press conference after the trade, Jones even smiled and thanked the media for writing up the headline that he hadn't planned to trade Parsons, as it was part of his negotiation tactics."
  • "Even though he called him 'Michael' on multiple occasions, Jerry Jones repeated several times that there were no bad feelings between himself and Parsons, and that he even talked with Parsons' mother for an extended period during a preseason game." How heartwarming.
Yecchh. I usually like to include a photo with my posts, but not of that toad face. Instead, here's MICAH Parsons. Good for him and the Packers!

Whenever I see a Cowboys game to be telecast, I have a huge incentive to tune in and root for the Cowboys to lose. Not because of Dallas, or the Cowboys, or their fans, but because of Jerry Jones. Get him to sell the team!
Jerry and Micah clearly had a conversation on some of the contract details before sending it off to the agent. The agent dismissed it. The situation sours over time. The agent comes back one last time to try to get a deal done, and asks for 47M per year.

To Jerry, that was an insult based on what they mutually agreed to previously. Jerry in turn trades Parsons basically overnight, and for poor compensation, returning the insult by saying, we can't get you out of here fast enough.

IMO, Parsons didn't want to stay with the Cowboys. Being a Cowboy makes you a lot more money than being a Packer. Just the state taxes alone take a big chunk of the small difference he got from the Packers.
