I think the better decision is whether to have auto-calc on or off, and with auto-calc off, simply use the default (neutral) modifiers. If you want your league to have the exact totals from the year of your game, then I would suggest to have the auto-calc enabled. If you want some fluxx to the game, where if your random debut brings in Maddux, Johnson, Palmer, etc... at their peaks, but isn't as generous at what hitters it creates, your league average might dip well below the actual value to the year, then turn auto-calc off, and just leave the modifiers on neutral and you'll probably be almost all the way there.

You can use the pre-calc file - I could see it helping in a few specific cases, like adjusting bunt or steal modifiers where the season totals might not perfectly align with the general strategy settings for the season. But I would guess more people care about the high-level totals for Ks, HRs, H, etc.. in which case the pre-calc file is just as likely to mess up your league as to make it better.
Thank you that gives me a lot to think about. Thing is, my current league is producing great results. I didn't buy the game this year when it first came out. I guess I've had it for 3 months now. I absolutely love this version of the game. Please work with Landesdown and his buddies to add more Negro League players to the random debut available list. Such a great addition to the game.

I like your idea. If my league continues, I'm eventually going to reach a year when I no longer want the game to import the historical modifiers. may stop at 1984, or I may continue to 1992. I think I will use the method you described from that point forward. I will stop running auto calc and just let the league drift. If things start getting too crazy, I can always auto-calc back to 84 or 92 and start the process over again.

Hope you see this and think about it.........Do you think it would ever be possible to allow us to pick a range of years, say 1980-1992 and when the next season arrives at auto calc time, have the game pick a season at random from that range and use it for the modifers. Something like that would be so great for random debut leagues.
