American League Division Series Game 2:October 4th, 2016
Chicago White Sox -
Toronto Blue Jays @Sky Dome
CWS: SP
Ubaldo Jimenez(R, 9-6 3.02)
TOR: SP
Noah Syndergaard(R, 17-6 3.60)
Based on performance, it was
Thor to go here as you can’t go wrong with a 17-game winner, right? Both starters had traffic on the bases, but it was
Syndergaard who… well not cracked, but got a little bruise when catcher
Jeff LeBeau homered to make it 1-0 CWS early, but we got that one run back right away with
Rendon scoring on a
Castellanos double and one inning later,
Joe Sokolow got us in front with a hard single to right… we had 6 hits by then, and three walks…
Jimenez walked on the brink of catastrophy early.
Now, catastrophy.
Colby Rasmus, he who once was a
Toronto Blue Jay, popped out to end the 5th, but -0.1WAR hitter
Hunter Pence dumped a single over the head of
Finkbeiner, and -0.1WAR hitter
Chris Nelson then doubled to right center…
PENCE HOLDS AT THIRD AS
CASTELLANOS UNLEASHES A MONSTER THROW TOWARDS HOME! Next up, #9 hitter
LeBeau, he who homered earlier… K !
Semien, in the leadoff spot, grounded out to second… catastrophy averted.
Unexpectedly, the game suddenly became a pitcher’s duel with nobody reaching second base for a while, and while we loved the work of
Syndergaard… Nick Bannister gave him the handshake after seven innings of 5-hit, 1-run and 11K ball, calling for
James C. Eaton and
Kevin Buchanan to close out the game… and they did in style.
