This highlights a bit of a fallacy in this. True, these are (in one person's opinion) the "most impactful" announcers but perhaps this is merely due in large measure to their presence on national and international platforms.
I jokingly mentioned Gary Cohen earlier but apparently he really is a great announcer, revered by the Mets fans here along with Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling. But outside of New York, he and they are obscure.
But remember, I stipulated in the opening post that the author was talking about impact, not greatness, and implied in this is, naturally, a focus on the broadest of broadcasting.
That said, however, I must admit that many of these names are unfamiliar to me. I guess I don't watch enough sports or pay enough attention to who is bloviating about them.
