They did it - the Rays swept the Tigers out of the ALCS to advance to their third World Series in club history. This one was a bit tougher especially with the bullpen struggling some, but
Garrett Cleavinger came on in relief with the tying runs in scoring position and surprisingly-named Series MVP Riley Greene at the plate (he had killed the Rays all series even if he didn't cause them to lose), and struck him out to start the celebration you see at the top of this post.
Christopher Morel was another unlikely hero as the LF slugged a pair of solo homers while
Junior Caminero went yard as well. So it's off to the Series against either the Dodgers or Giants with
Shane McClanahan ready to roll in Game 1 at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
And after looking like the Giants were Series-bound a few days ago the Dodgers are now the favorites after a Game 5 win, although they'll have to find a way to win on the road:
