Cards news: July 22 -- LHP Dylan Lee acquired from Atlanta for 1B Coby Mayo and RHP Devin Williams
The St. Louis Cardinals have attempted to bolster their bullpen by acquiring left-handed relief pitcher Dylan Lee from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for first baseman Coby Mayo and right-handed relief pitcher Devin Williams.
The 33-year-old Lee has served as Atlanta's closer over the past three seasons accumulating 108 saves in that span.
This season, he has worked in 43 games going 4-2 with 30 saves and a 0.78 ERA.
For his career, which began in Atlanta in 2021, he has going 21-19 with the 108 saves and a 2.03 ERA.
Lee will likely share the closer's role with David Bednar through the end of the 2028 season.
Acquired by the Cardinals from Baltimore during the 2026 season, St. Louis hoped Mayo would develop into their long-term first baseman.
But it never happened.
In 223 games/213 starts with the Cardinals, he has hit just .206 with 27 home runs and 92 RBIs.
This season, the 26-year-old has hit .206 with four home runs and 25 RBIs in 74 games/67 starts.
The Cardinals signed the 28-year-old Williams in the off-season.
In 31 games, the former Royals closer has gone 3-2 with one save and a 5.45 ERA.
