In a tough spot...
Game 5 of series tied at 2-2 are always called "pivotal" but so is Game 4 of a 2-1 series as either one team goes up 3-1 or it's a new series at 2-2. Unfortunately it was the former for the Rays as they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at San Diego and now face elimination tomorrow. None of it was really the fault of rookie
Jessie McGee, who took at the Rays at 1-1 into the 7th and was only on 68 pitches before giving up a Graham Pauley homer which was the difference. No the blame was on the offense once again as they could only manage
Ryan Cermak's first postseason homer in the 2nd and couldn't convert some late opportunities. They had two with two out in the 8th and couldn't score and then in the 9th
Heston Kjerstad's pinch-single put men on 1st and 3rd with two out but
Josh Lowe grounded out to end the game. Now it'll be up to ace
Taj Bradley to keep the season alive and bring the series back to St. Pete.
