MLB Standings
A strong start to the season once again for the Giants as they open up a 3 G lead in the division with the best record in the National League. Over in the American League, it is the Royals with the usual lead in the standings.
San Francisco Results
The Giants win six and split one of their first eight series, with the lone loss coming in the final series of the month against the Braves. Those successes include going 9-5 against NL West teams.
San Francisco Stats
Several fast starts for Giants hitters, with Gabino Gallindo, Joel Hudson, and Gianvito Heaton all hitting at All-Star levels over the first month of the season. Luis Castro, Jaquan Willie, and Germains Curtis all struggled, although Castro in particular is working from a small sample size.
Those performances saw the Giants hitters pick up two Awards during the month, with Gabino Galindo picking up a NL Player of the Week Award, going 9-17, with 2 HRs and 10 RBIs before Gianvito won Rookie of the Month. The LF hit .272, with 20 RBIs, and 8 HRs.
A tough start for the rotation in terms of FIP-, with only Andy Frederick bettering the league average. However, the bullpen has picked up the slack, with only Steve Feister and David Silva pitching worse than league average according to FIP-. Feister has been asked to pitch in 10 G so the Giants may lighten his load in May, or even send him to Sacramento.
