Gooden could pitch that well on any given day, even late in his career when his velocity was down. An error (by a good defensive player) would be a tough way to lose a perfecto.

I sometimes have been tempted to let the computer finish games, but now I probably never will. Mostly playing game-by-game deprives me of long-term sim results that come with automatic play. Every time I think I might do that, I get frustrated at how the AI is handling "my" team, and start managing each game.

I should have led off with Sophie. She smiled at me! Pretty good at seven weeks.
