The commentary on Clay Holmes (in the vein of "well, it's only his first season starting, five innings is really all we can ask") is depressing, but he got the outs he needed, and then Ping-Pong Garcia showed why we shouldn't have tried playing roster games with him in the first place. And all was right with the world.
Except that I couldn't see the first few innings, because MLB's silly 8:00 PM start times on Friday night (what's the Official Reason for that, anyway?) mean that the West Coast games get going when the early game is still on, and so I had to wait for the Strangers (cunningly disguised in Chitty Connect unis that make them look like mall cops in Japan) to finish off the Noc-a-Homas before MLBN would switch over. And tonight it appears they're jugging the primary and alternate feeds, so I get stuck with last night's alternate (Seattle v. Mike Trout and the Seven Dwarves) and so can't see the Mets
Heigh-ho, indeed.
(Also cute to see Dusty Baker and Gary Hernandez visiting the booth, and Gary Cohen's suggestion that Keith could go lie down for a nap in the later innings. I know how you felt, Keith. Although I have more of an excuse for feeling that I'm on Eastern Daylight Time, since I actually am, lol.
Bonus points, as always, to Gary C. for his Springsteen reference with "It's midnight in Manhattan", from "New York City Serenade", but I think the music appreciation props have to go to Keith for responding to Gary's "Deep Purple" reference with a "Highway Star" suggestion, rather than the obvious "Smoke on the Water". Nobody gonna take-a my mind, I've got speed inside my brain, yeah!)
