The trade also allows StL to max out player development and double their draft money. Looking ta the draft there are no less than 8 identified players that are projected to be elite. This draft seems deep.

Making the playoffs, of course, is the goal I'm most focused on.

I'm not too eager to try and upgrade RF, presently Oscar G has an OPS of .726, exactly league average, but is a great platoon part (at RF/1B) with .880 OPS vLHP.

I knew Scherzer would easily fulfill the hometown player bit, and it's a nice story given the history and desire of the fans. I did not expect Scherzer to produce as much as he has, and was prepared to accept his decline, injury, and eventual retirement. It's been a major plus.
