WOODCUT LOCATED Alex Skinner 1884 Baltimore Unions / Chicago Unions
John Thorn just posted this great woodcut of Alex Skinner (listed as Stephen in the caption) from the January 18, 1879 National Police Gazette.
Skinner shot his brother George at the George Wright Baseball Emporium, but since his brother survived, he avoided charges.
Skinner relocated from Brooklyn to Baltimore in 1884, and through his friendship with Billy Barnie got hooked up with the Baltimore Unions and filled in a couple games - one for Baltimore and one for Chicago.
He also umpired in the AA and the NL in 1886.
