GETTING TOUGH TO MAKE THE IPA HALL OF FAME -- NO ONE ELECTED THIS YEAR
The ballots are counted and the results are in. Unfortunately, no player was elected to the Hall of Fame this year. The top vote getter was Far Mountain outfielder Ernie Friedricks, who received votes from 67.6% of eligible electors. Second best in the balloting was South Fork's standout shortstop Carroll Ezzell at 62.2%.
Friedricks batted .311 in his 13 seasons. He scored over 1200 runs in his career and stole 786 bases. 6 times he topped the league in thefts. Fredericks is 4th overall in IPA history in stolen bases. He made 4 All-Star teams. Ezzell hit .317 lifetime and scored over 1100 runs and stole 500 bases, making the All-Star team 5 times. In 2077 he was voted the Tycobbian Union Most Valuable Player.
The full voting results are included here. Players require 75% of ballots cast to be elected to the Hall, may stay on the ballot for up to 10 years if they receive at least 5% of the votes. Players must be retired for 3 years before they are eligible for induction to the Hall of Fame.
